I enjoy rising before dawn, seizing my bag filled with photographic gear, and embarking on a quest for captivating images. There's an unparalleled pleasure in immersing myself in the silence, the gentle flow of water, or the melodies of birdsong. In these intimate moments with nature and photography, all distractions fade away, leaving me wholly absorbed in my surroundings.
Photographing people and capturing fleeting moments brings me immense joy. I simply love the act of photography, period. However, my deepest fascination lies in landscape photography. Whether it's easier or harder than other genres is irrelevant; what matters is that it has always captivated me, motivating me to rise early while others sleep or stay out late when many have already retired for the night.
My journey into digital photography began in 1999 when I acquired a Sony Mavica with its groundbreaking 1-megapixel resolution and floppy disk storage. This marked a profound shift in my approach to photography, forever altering my life's course.
After a hiatus, the allure of photography beckoned once more in 2006. I delved into every available resource for inspiration, scouring the internet for images that stirred my soul. In 2007, I invested in a Canon 400D and haven't looked back since.
Recently, I've embraced the Fuji X system, bidding farewell to the bulk of the 5D MKIII and a collection of L series lenses. I'm now prepared to traverse greater distances, uncovering new and fascinating vistas along the way.
Nearly a decade later, my passion for photography burns as fiercely as ever, if not more so. My name is Maurício Reis, and I am a Portuguese photographer.
